In honor of the great American composer Henry Mancini (April 16, 1924 - June 14, 1994), Sue Raney will sing material from her album “Dreamsville: Sue Raney Sings Henry Mancini.”
Henry Mancini was one of the most beloved, versatile American composers of all time. His name is synonymous with great motion picture and television music. He recorded over 90 albums with styles ranging from big band to jazz to classical to pop. He was nominated for an unprecedented 72 Grammys, winning 20; he was nominated for 18 Academy Awards, winning 4. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe and nominated for 2 Emmys.
His music includes the scores from: Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther, Days of Wine and Roses, Charade, Two For The Road, Peter Gunn, Newhart, Remington Steele….etc.
Sue Raney, who worked with Henry Mancini, has one of the most beautiful voices in music. She is always in tune, displays complete control over her vibrato, and has the rare gift of being able to interpret lyrics with such deep understanding that she makes them sound fresh, even if the words are familiar. Or as Julie Andrews observed a while back, "As for Ms. Raney – well, she is a marvel."
The band includes many musicians who worked with Henry Mancini over the years.
