Duo: 6:30 to 10:30 // 9:00: Featured Artist - Don Rader
Rader’s use of the mute and his phrasing makes him sound so much like Miles Davis you do a double take. But it's his lyricism, that sense of him telling a story through sound, which adds a distinctiveness that's in its own class.” — Leon Gettler - The Age
With his distinctive and beautifully projected trumpet and flugelhorn sound, so full of warm lyrical narrative, Don Rader has worked with everyone from Count Basie to Woody Herman to Frank Sinatra to Della Reese to Elvis Presley to Diana Reese — and all the renowned big bands, including Wood Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Louie Bellson, Harry James, Henry Mancini, Les Brown, Stan Kenton, Lew Tabackin and Toshiko Akiyoshi.
