The Trifield Quintet with Very Special Guest - Lee Ritenour

Music hours:  6:30 to 10:30

The quintet is an off-shoot of the Trifield Guitar Project formed by guitarists Alex Sill, Karl Marino and Rami Halperin, who all met as finalists in jazz legend Lee Ritenour’s Six String Theory international guitar competition. After being selected out of hundreds of contestants from over 50 countries they were inspired to form the band and were invited back to perform at the festival where they first met (The Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival in Bigfork, Montana).  The group's debut album "Montana Suite," was released during the 2013 festival featuring a long form, five part composition of the same name.

Since Trifield’s formation, Alex Sill has continued to use the group’s name in a jazz group context, and allowed the band to become a collective of some of L.A.’s best jazz musicians.  Band members and special guest players have included bassist Ben Shepherd, piano virtuoso Vardan Ovsepian, multi-reedist Jacob Scesney, incredible jazz guitarist Larry Koonse, and guitar legend Lee Ritenour.

The Trifield Quinet’s August 16th show at Vibrato will feature another stellar lineup including the young and talented Wesley Ritenour on drums, sax phenom Danny Janklow, the awesome Sezin Ahmet on bass, piano master Otmaro Ruiz, and Alex Sill on guitar.   A very special guest will be joining the group for this performance.

"Just heard these young men play and can't say how much I enjoyed it. They opened for me at The Crown of The Continent Guitar Festival in Montana – a hard act to follow!”—ROBBEN FORD (Blues/Jazz/Rock Guitar Legend. Guitarist for Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell and more)

“Very sweet, sensitive playing!” - JAY GRAYDON (Grammy award winning guitarist/producer, Steely Dan, Ray Charles, and more)

"Alex Sill is one of the new lions emerging into the virtuoso group of young players.  He's a guitarist who's destined to be in the front line.  His talent on his instrument is phenomenal, and his dedication & hard work to master it began at a young age, and has never faltered.  He has absorbed the "cultural" history of the guitar, and will obviously be a cutting edge contributor to the continued evolution of this axe. His solo playing shows his maturity, way beyond his age. And maybe most important, we can hear how much he loves what he's playing. A musical slam dunk.” -  DAVE GRUSIN (Grammy Award Winning Film Composer & Jazz Pianist)
