Chuck Manning & Steve Huffsteter Quartet

Music hours:  6:30 to 10:30

"Chuck Manning is a fine inventive tenor player...he plays a gorgeous ballad, can blow some brilliant and slightly understated post-bop frenzy, and can lay out the bop lines fresh….No matter what the context, tenor Manning’s mix of smarts and heart will get to you — he always seems to work out just the right solo for the moment" – LAWeekly.

Rocket scientist by day, jazzman at night, Chuck has worked with: Albert "Tootie" Heath, Anthony Wilson, Branford Marsalis, Cedar Walton, Charlie Haden, Conte Condoli, Dave Carpenter, Dave Koonse, Ravi Coltrane, Tamir Hendelman – plus many more…

Steve Huffsteter was a child prodgy, who started playing trumpet at 8 and played professionally while still in high school. He performed in most of the big name bands, including: Stan Kenton, Les Brown, Ray Charles, Louie Bellson, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Bill Holman – to mention just a few. In addition, Steve performed/and recorded with: Willie Bobo, Paulino DaCosta, Moacir Santos, Cecilia Coleman, Tony Bennett, Nat "King" Cole, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Jack Jones, Diane Schurr, Natalie Cole, Julie Kelly, Mike Campbell, Dean Martin and many others. Steve has recorded more than 80 albums and CDs, including his own “Circles.”

Also know as the “Pianoless Quartet”, the group is getting ready to record a new CD and will be playing new compositions written by the band members as well as new takes on old favorites.
