The Los Angeles Jazz collective is proud to feature a rising star in the quickly burgeoning creative jazz scene in Los Angeles. Pianist Michael Ragonese is a brilliant virtuoso with an active imagination and an athletic facility on the instrument. His trio will feature drummer Andres Salazar, another up-an-comer who has performed with saxophonist David Binney, pianist Gerald Clayton, and bassist Eric Revis among others, and bassist Gary Pratt, the preeminent professor at California State University, Northridge, whose supreme musicianship and firm yet benevolent guidance has inspired countless musicians for over three decades.
Michael Ragonese is a Los Angeles based pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. He received his Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies at California State University Northridge, where he led jazz combos to 1st place at the Reno and Monterey Jazz Festivals, also receiving the “Best College Performer” award at the Reno Jazz Festival. Recently Michael took 2nd place out of 8 piano finalists across the world in Lee Ritenour's Six String Jazz competition.
Michael has performed, recorded and worked with such jazz greats as Bennie Maupin, Charnett Moffett, Alphonso Johnson, Sue Raney, John Daversa, Louise Cole, Darek Oles, Gary Pratt, Walter Smith III, David Binney, Katisse Buckingham, Gene Coye, and Rick Braun. Currently Michael is touring with Rick Braun and the Jacob Szkeley Trio. He is continuously composing for and performing with new projects.
