With his dynamic blend of Afro Cuban rhythms, jazz, Latin jazz, pop, R&B and originals, famed conguero, bandleader, composer and vocalist Louie Cruz Beltran has shared the stage with legends Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson, among many more.  At the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl Louie made a huge impact.  To quote Variety “Louie was the unexpected triumph of the day.  This music is why the Playboy Jazz Festival was created!”   

Performingartslive.com praised Louie’s “…percolating percussion, catchy refrains and fiery arrangements….”  OCWeekly said “Louie and his band are stunners…check out Beltran’s fiery percussion skills.”  Louie’s critically acclaimed CD “Paint the Rhythm” features an all star line up of some of the most exciting and recognized names in Latin Jazz and climbed to #4 on the national charts.  His sold out debut CD “It’s My Time” has just been reissued.  Louie passionately advocates for arts education with a motivational percussion presentation in schools and libraries throughout Southern California.  He was honored to entertain famed civil rights leader and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Dolores Huerta at her 85th birthday celebration.

This April Louie makes two appearances in Washington, DC, for the Smithsonian Institution and the Blues Alley Foundation on the National Mall in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, and at famed Blues Alley in Georgetown.

Louie always connects to audiences with solid musicianship, humor and dazzling percussion work.
