Ricky Peterson is a keyboard phenom from Minneapolis. He comes from an elite musical family and cut his teeth on the jazz of his parents and the pop music of his time, most notably, prince. He was a staff producer at Paisley Park for many years and co-produced the number one hit, “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World”.
Ricky has recorded and toured internationally with David Sanborn, George Benson, Ben Sidran, John Mayer, Bonnie Raitt and Fleetwood Mac, to name a few, and was called personally by the legendary Miles Davis to play keyboards in his band.
Ricky Peterson's unique concepts on keyboard are tinged with jazz fusion as well as rhythm and blues for a personal style that has become his trademark sound, “the Minneapolis sound”.
His most recent accomplishment is as the featured Hammond B3 player and vocalist with the Grammy winning WDR big band, which has become a classic jazz institution around the world. With this WDR debut, conducted by Bob Mintzer, Ricky Peterson has established himself as a fixture in the jazz constellation, and his star is sure to shine for many years to come!
Bob Mintzer is a saxophonist/arranger/educator who resides in Los Angeles. He is currently the chair of jazz studies and the Buzz McCoy endowed chair at the USC Thornton School of Music. Bob is a 28 year member as saxophonist with the Yellowjackets. He is also the chief conductor of the WDR Big Band in Cologne, Germany. Bob has written over 500 big band arrangements, several jazz study books, orchestral and chamber works. He has played on over 1000 recordings and has performed with Tito Puente, Buddy Rich, Thad Jones Mel Lewis Big Band, Eddie Palmieri, Jaco Pastorius, Mike Manieri, Randy Brecker, and the New York Philharmonic.
