"The Danny Jonokuchi Big Band Featuring Charles Turner"
Danny Jonokuchi has been called a world class performer and “a sound of this era” (Nextbop). Few artists are as diversely involved in their craft. He is a trumpeter, composer, arranger, producer, and touring artist originally from Los Angeles and currently living in New York City. You can hear his original compositions and arrangements in renowned jazz clubs, listen to albums he has arranged and produced, and see him perform on Broadway in the Tony-nominated musical Be More Chill. He leads the The Danny Jonokuchi Big Band, the 7-piece swing band The Revisionists, and co-leads and conducts The New Alchemy Jazz Orchestra. Danny has performed on award-winning studio albums, on PBS, NPR, HBO, and Good Morning America, as well as distinguished stages including the Village Vanguard, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and Birdland Jazz Club.
Charles Turner has taken the jazz scene by storm and was named the winner of the 1st Annual Duke Ellington Vocal Competition in New York City hosted by Mercedes Ellington. Charles was born and raised in Los Angeles and relocated to New York in 2011. He has performed in venues such as Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Birdland, Smoke Jazz Club and the historic Minton’s Playhouse where he held a residency for two years. Turner’s Sophomore Album “ Single & In Love” was debuted at Jazz at Lincoln Center and produced by Grammy award-winning drummer Ulysses Owens Jr.. Charles has traveled the world performing in Paris, Budapest, London, and New Zealand. He currently holds a position at the American School of Modern Music in Paris where he teaches while traveling between NYC and Paris.
